Migrant Education

In collaboration with Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, in-home, school readiness lessons with a regional preschool teacher is offered for students ages 3-5.

During the academic year, the district Migrant Education Program offers enriching fall and spring  Saturday academies. In the summer, students are eligible to participate in regional summer learning loss prevention and experiential programs located at sites such as California State University, Fresno and Scout Island.

During the academic year, the district Migrant Education Program offers enriching fall and spring  Saturday academies and Migrant Speech and Debate (after school English Language Arts and English Language Development intervention). In the summer, students are eligible to participate in regional summer learning loss prevention and experiential programs located at sites such as California State University, Fresno and Scout Island.

During the academic year, the district Migrant Education Program offers enriching fall Career Technical exploration, spring career and college readiness High School & Beyond program Saturday academies, Migrant Speech and Debate (after school English Language Arts and English Language Development intervention). Migrant high school students also have access a regional student success mentor to support their academic year success. In the summer, students are eligible to participate in district Summer Work Experience paid internships, and academic mentoring to support students to get and stay on track to high school graduation and beyond.

Youth ages 15-21, not enrolled in school, who meet migrant qualifying guidelines are considered Out-of-School Youth (OSY). OSY students work with a regional case manager to identify and create academic and career goals, and work on a plan to achieve them. Students also have access to health clinics, dental care and referrals to support service agencies and programs.

Migrant parents are encouraged to participate in any of the 6 Migrant Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings held each calendar year. PAC meetings are forums designed to inform parents of upcoming events, various current affairs, networking and community resources. In early spring, the PAC committee members, and leadership round table, organize and host an annual family mini conference day filled with workshops and activities for the whole family. Migrant parents are also eligible to participate in regional parent workshops, activities and leadership building opportunities.
