CELEBRATING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS
Did you know half of all students in Kings Canyon Unified either have been or currently are English language learners? The process these students go through to become proficient in English can take several years to complete. This year there are students who are native speakers of the following languages: Spanish, Arabic, Punjabi, Tagalog, Czech and German!
Each year these students must take the English Language Proficiency Assessments for California until they pass. Reclassification to Fluent English Proficiency (RFEP) is a big deal for our students and their families, and we celebrate them on Children's Day!
Congratulations to all our students who are celebrating their reclassification!
