School Bus Requests for Field Trips

Planning a field trip takes time, and we want to make sure transportation is one less thing to worry about. Please keep the following in mind when requesting a bus:

• Submit requests in Tripfinder through your site administrator at least 10 working days in advance.

• If you don’t yet know the location or times, please enter “TBA” so the request can be logged.

School Bus Blackout Times

School buses are not available during the following times:

• Before 8:30 a.m.

• 1:30–4:30 p.m. on regular days

• 12:00–2:45 p.m. on minimum days

If your trip requires departure or arrival during these blackout times and schedules cannot be adjusted, the trip may need to be booked on a charter bus. Please note: charter buses fill quickly and are often reserved well in advance.

Charter Bus Requests for Field Trips

We understand how much time and effort goes into planning field trips, and we want to help make the transportation process as smooth as possible.

• Please submit your request in Tripfinder at least 6 weeks in advance.

• Buses often fill quickly, especially on Thursdays, Fridays, and throughout May, so early requests increase the chance of securing a bus.

• To make things easier later, we recommend submitting requests at the start of the school year whenever possible.

• A detailed itinerary is required to finalize your request. You can either include it in Tripfinder or email it directly to Transportation.

Charter Child Check Form

Please print out the “Charter Child Check” form prior to boarding the bus.  This MUST be filled out with the driver, signed and sent back to Transportation after the trip has ended.

Small group or staff use

• Submit your request in Tripfinder and select “Passenger Vehicle”

• The vehicle assigned will depend on the number of passengers in your request.

• District employees are required to complete the “District Vehicle Use” form at least one week before the scheduled vehicle use.
