Speaker Jeremy Anderson Connects With Students

During his assemblies, Jeremy draws upon his past experiences of failure in school, drug and alcohol abuse, ADHD and other issues to connect with students and share the message that success is a choice. His assemblies touch on three themes: leadership and choices, kindness and inclusiveness, and “see something say something.”

Culture and Climate Coordinator Bobbie Ruments said, “Earlier this week between assemblies Jeremy met with opportunity students at OCHS and Grant. He spoke to them about life’s choices and answered many questions. He offered to respond to more of their questions throughout the school year. Their teachers will text Jeremy the questions and he will provide a video response. Jeremy believes in helping students.” Following the student assemblies, Jeremy’s message of being a Next Level Student will be shared in eight five-minute videos shown monthly to provide topics for students to think about and discuss. Each school site will determine how these monthly bits of information will be delivered. Mrs. Ruments added, “We want to help all students be the best human beings they can be. We believe that providing monthly, common, meaningful topics is one way to provoke thinking, start discussions and motivate students to the next level.”
